Cascading Failure Developer Update

What have we been doing since the last update?

It has been a small while since our last release back in march, it now being september. Progress on the game came to a small halt for a few months after march due to personal and health reasons being a core factor of lack of progress. We have, however, been back in full swing after that small unfortunate break. A Lot of things will change when our next patch comes out, a core one being a full UI and HUD redesign which includes some features requests based on some of the feedback we received. 

The HUD changes have consumed a lot of time but it is not the only thing we have been working on, a key focus has been getting the game performing better overall for especially large and end game fights where hundreds of units are engaged in battle. Alongside these performance improvements we have done some map redesigns with Cliffside getting some more alterations after the release back in march, as well as extinction becoming more of what our vision was for the map.

Some new units, weapons, balance changes and unit redesigns to give each faction that unique looks and play style are all included in the next patch. These new weapons from companies will hopefully give the players who have unlocked everything, another objective to work towards. Some exclusive unlocks and the new weapon attachment system will also be inplace for the new gamemode Invasion. 

With all the above changes comes alot of behind the scene updates to the AI for all game modes and hopefully some great improvements for units under the players control.

When does the next patch come out?

We have not decided on a hard date for the release but hope that it will be ready soon. We still have a lot to do and a lot to test before we push the developer branch to the public one. We know that first timers to the true FPS/RTS genre struggle a lot when it comes to their first hours of playing so we are working on systems to make the introduction easier without turning the game into a generic shooter, where you would be able to single handingly crush an army without the use of your own troops.
